Naval Medical Center, San Diego CA

Officially the medical facility at Balboa Park is the Naval Medical Center (NMC), San Diego. Unofficially it’s Balboa Hospital. The program is recognized for training excellence in both primary and tertiary care medicine with a referral base including the Southwestern United States and Pacific Rim. Since 1982, the residency program has consistently been in the top 10% of all programs nationally. The Naval Medical Center's reputation for quality patient care and medical education is unequaled. This is the 2nd largest naval hospital in the world.

Contract Scope: Complete custodial responsibility including full critical care aseptic cleaning; labor materials and equipment.

Edwards Air Force Base, Edwards CA

Occupies territory once explored by Spanish colonists and settled by pioneer homesteaders. The military base began as a stark and remote bombing range in 1933 and went on to become a major bomber-training base in World War II. The Air Force Flight Test Center originated during the darkest days of the war, and has since achieved more major milestones in flight than anywhere else in the world.

Vandenberg Air Force Base, Vandenberg CA

Vandenberg AFB, located about 150 miles northwest of Los Angeles, is the only military base in the United States from which unmanned government and commercial satellites are launched into polar orbit. It is also the only site from which intercontinental ballistic missiles are test fired into the Pacific Ocean. Formerly known as Camp Cooke, the transformation into the nation's first space and ballistic missile operational and training base began in 1957 when it was transferred to the United States Air Force. In the following year it was renamed Vandenberg Air Force Base.

Naval Support Activity Mechanicsburg, Mechanicsburg PA

This 807-acre base in Hampden Township, located just outside of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, is known as the Naval Support Activity Mechanicsburg. The various Navy and Department of Defense commands and activities there employed about 4,511 civilians and 824 military personnel in 2002. The total annual payroll for civilians there is about $300 million. In fiscal year 2002, the base issued just over $1 billion in mission-related contracts, meaning contracts supporting the parts and weapons systems for ships, submarines and aircraft.
